The Easiest Way – Night Bus

1viglcbl72At night in Budapest there are only bus lines operating (as well as a few night trains on MAV Hungarian State Railway lines). Most daytime services finish around 11-12 pm, including bus, tram, trolley-bus and metro. Night operation starts around 10pm-12am and ends around 4am. Most important services: instead of metro M2, take 78E for station between “Astoria” and “Ors vezer tere”; from Dobrentei ter take 49E for station “Deli pu.” and “Moszkva ter” instead of metro M3, take 14E for stations between “Hatar ut” and “Lehel ter”; 50E for stations between “Hatar ut” and “Gyongyosi utca”, exc. “Ferenciek tere” instead of trams #4 #6, take 6E for all stops instead of trams #18 #19, take 49E for #18 stops between “Moszkva ter” and “Moricz Zs. korter” and for #19 stops between “Etele ter” and “Dobrentei ter”. Schedules are clearly signposted under stop signs. Major night bus stops have a service scheme (on the back side of the stop sign). Services in the frequent areas operate every 10-15 minutes until cca. 2 am, and 20-30 minutes after 2. The usual tickets and passes are valid on night services as well. Note that some passes are valid until 12 am only! TICKETS ARE NOT SOLD ON NIGHT BUSES. Ticket vending machines operate at major stops. Some vehicles might be extremely crowded, so sometimes it’s just better to walk a bit. For your safety, don’t look for conflicts with your fellow passengers who might be under the effect of alcohol.
