Palais Dreschler – opposite of the Opera

Just opposite of the Budapest Opera I saw this interesting building, that reminded me a lot of a gothic castle or a palazzo in Venice , but in fact it was built by Ödön Lechner for the Central administration of the railways. Then it became a ballet-school and at the moment it will be totally restored and transferred into a luxury hotel. Luxury hotels are jumping up at each corner in Budapest -within a few years they will find out, how hard it is to get guests for such places… This building is opposite of the opera in Andrassy ut, and when you go behind of that building you will see the Arany János Theatre.
