Péterffy-Palais (Péterffy Palota) is a good excample of a small palais built in the 18th century, when Pest was still surrounded by the medieval townwall. On the picture you will see the chain at the entrance of the palais, it is necessary, because the level of the building is about 1 meter lower than all the other – more modern – buildings in that area. In 1755 the palais was built by Andreas Mayerhofer for Family Peterffy -their coat of arms is still to be seen above the entrance. Since 1831 this palais was transfered into a restaurant, called “Százéves” Péterffy-Palais (Péterffy Palota) is in Pesti Barnabás utca 2. You may get there by tram #2 and #2A Metro M1 – get out “Vörösmarty Tér”. Metro M2 – get out at “Deák Tér”.
